Consolidating client’s global manufacturing KPIs into one customisable dashboard

Challenge

Designing a plant management tool for an international automotive company was a challenging project in terms of time, stakeholder alignment and final delivery. The client’s plants are spread across the globe. We needed to create a unique digital source of truth for visualising and managing their data to quickly get a live and up-to-date status of their entire production.

Project

Initially, we held a series of ideation sprints (mostly Google Sprint format) with the client team to determine the requirements of the platform MVP and to establish the key KPIs to be displayed on the dashboards. After analysing and understanding their needs, we jointly sketched out several solutions to identify opportunities and reach a common point of view. The final design was finally translated into an interactive prototype, which we tested in several interviews with key stakeholders from different production plants.

Result

The end result was a fully scalable digital solution for desktop and mobile that brought together multiple dashboards that summarised key KPIs and displayed them in a variety of interactive widgets. These elements and their data could be easily customised by users using shortcut filters to display the information in the most convenient way.

In addition, users were able to create their own KPI visualisations, widgets and dashboards within the platform, so that everyone could fully customise the experience to suit their work and daily needs.
