Designing a plant management tool for an international automotive company was a challenging project in terms of time, stakeholder alignment and final delivery. The client’s plants are spread across the globe. We needed to create a unique digital source of truth for visualising and managing their data to quickly get a live and up-to-date status of their entire production.
First, we held a series of ideation sprints (mostly in Google Sprint format) with the client team to determine the requirements of the platform MVP between the different stakeholders and to establish the key KPIs to be displayed on the dashboards. After analysing and understanding their needs, we jointly sketched several solutions to identify opportunities and reach a common point of view. The final design was then translated into an interactive prototype, which we tested in a series of interviews with key stakeholders from different production sites.
The result is a fully scalable digital solution for desktop and mobile that brings together multiple dashboards that summarise key KPIs and display them in a variety of interactive widgets. These elements and their data could be easily customised by users using shortcut filters to display the information most conveniently.
In addition, users can create their own KPI visualisations, widgets and dashboards within the platform, so that everyone can fully customise the experience to suit their work and daily needs.
